FDA’s Searchable Tobacco Products Database:
Enhanced Search Capabilities and Mobile-Friendly Updates

In March, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched the Searchable Tobacco Products Database, a new user-friendly list of tobacco products—including e-cigarettes—that may be legally marketed in the U.S. The database is designed to serve the public—especially retailers—by providing this key information in a single location, with easy-to-use search capabilities.

On May 22, 2024, the FDA launched new technical updates to the database, which include enhanced search capabilities and improved accessibility on mobile devices.

Users can now search the database for multiple words, resulting in faster and more precise results for complex searches. For example, searching “Jane” and “Doe” will show results related to both words. Users can also download full or partial records in different file formats, CSV, PDF or XLSX. In addition, mobile users will now experience the database with a more mobile-friendly layout and the same functionality as desktop users.

The database is updated monthly with new products and documents. For more information, visit the database, which can be accessed at www.fda.gov/searchtobacco.
