WYOMING - TESTING OF SPILL BUCKETS AND SUMPS AND FUNCTIONAL INSPECTIONS OF OVERFILL DEVICES

The latest regulations for tanks in Wyoming went into effect in 2018 (the same as the EPA deadline), and they included a deadline of October 2018 to test all spill buckets, secondary containment sumps used for interstitial monitoring, and functional inspections of all overfill devices. This testing is to be conducted every three years. This year is the sixth anniversary of that deadline. I thought I would mention that there may be a lot of facilities that are coming due for this testing and I would recommend that people make sure that they don't wait until the last minute to call their testing company to get this testing done.

Currently DEQ  has 651 active tank facilities and approximately half of the facilities across the state are due for this testing by the end of 2024. Here are the number of facilities that are due for testing by the end of the year:

Overfill device function inspections = 302 facilities

Spill bucket/spill prevention devices = 350 facilities

Secondary containment testing = 142 (out of 260 that require this testing)

Hopefully this information will help prepare people for the upcoming year. For question please contact Oma Gilbreth -
