COLORADO - STEERING COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED TO RECOMMEND NOX REDUCTION STRATEGIES

Steering Committee Established to Recommend Nitrogen Oxide Reduction Strategies

The Air Pollution Control Division has established a steering committee to support the development of rules that will apply to upstream oil and gas operators in areas of Colorado that do not meet federal ozone pollution standards.

The Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Reduction Steering Committee will begin meeting in March 2024. The members committed to holding meetings once a month for at least six months. During these meetings, members engage in technical discussions on potential strategies to reduce NOx pollution. The focus is on reducing NOx emissions from oil and gas exploration and production processes in areas of Colorado that do not meet federal ozone pollution standards.

In addition to the steering committee's monthly technical meetings, the division will host two public meetings, in the summer and fall of 2024.

Steering committee meetings are held virtually. Members of the public are welcome to observe. Register to attend a meeting:

  • Wed. Mar 27, 2024 1 - 3 p.m.

·         Register to join the March 27 meeting virtually

As meeting dates are planned, they will be posted on the division’s website.
