COLORADO - HWY 50 AND LITTLE BLUE CANYON MOVING FORWARD AND STARTING IN APRIL

Just a reminder that there is a 2 year project that is slated to start in April of this year.

The attachment has the relevant information.

CWPMA has been on several calls with the CSP as well at CDOT on this issue.  That corridor is critical to us for the southwest.  The option is some longer open windows which would extend the project an additional season.  We have people on both sides of the issue.  We have been seeking to ensure that whatever happens, the timeframes are consistent daily for when it is open so that trips can be scheduled to coincide with them and can adequately clear the volume of vehicle that may be staged and waiting there.

CSP has taken a look at this situation at some length and there are no good options from a hazmat routing perspective.  I know the thought in terms of the windows in the morning, mid-day and evenings is with the intention of allowing vehicles to get through the area of the closure during those key periods.  However it will be challenge hitting these windows.

I urge marketers in the affected areas to try and keep CWPMA in the loop once the project starts and if we need to argue for further relief from our state regulatory partners then we will take up that conversation.
