FDA Publishes Influencer Marketing Resource Guide

On Feb. 8, FDA published Influencers 101: Best Practices and Practical Approaches for Public Health Campaigns in the Tobacco Education Resource Library. This free resource guide is based on lessons learned from FDA’s successful tobacco prevention campaigns. It is designed to share best practices with public health practitioners who want to apply influencer marketing strategies to their own program, especially those related to tobacco prevention.

An influencer is a person with a following beyond their personal friends and family who has the ability to impact others’ decisions. When utilized in public health campaigns, influencers can provide positive, powerful examples of health behaviors or beliefs in action.

The guide shares a variety of practical information and tips about influencer marketing, including preparation, implementation, and measurement of an influencer marketing campaign. There are also several case studies with real-world examples of successful influencer marketing conducted by the Center for Tobacco Products’ (CTP) tobacco prevention public health campaigns.

CTP staff will present information about the resource guide at a webinar hosted by Rescue Agency on Tues., Feb. 28 at 1:30 p.m. ET. Attendance is free; however, you are required to register.
