So for the Past year or so we have been asking for you to begin looking at FAMLI leave, which was a required program, (passed by the voters when the proponents couldn't get it through our elected legislative body) that was designed to be implemented (at least on a premium collection basis) directly after this most recent election, Effective January 1st.)
(Importantly, the program that was initially passed was insolvent. Due to stimulus i.e. Federal defecit spending. the program was propped up last year for implementation and while employees and employers will begin paying premiums (depending on size) starting in January, no one is actually able to get any benefit for the program until 2023. (As we noted it was designed to be insolvent and needs to be supported with premium payments from Colorado families and citizens for a year before any benefit. (Think of it like paying for medical insurance for a year but not being able to go to the doctor.))

There are tons of requirements and details there is a webinar on the 19th that I urge your HR people to follow
Hello Colorado Employers!CDLE’s Division of Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) is excited to announce that all Colorado employers can now access My FAMLI+ Employer, our online employer portal. Colorado businesses, third party administrators (TPAs) and local government employers will use My FAMLI+ Employer to manage their FAMLI accounts. My FAMLI+ Employer will operate similarly to My UI Employer, allowing employers to report wage data, send premium payments, apply for exemption with a private plan and upload letters of declination votes. We’ve kicked the tires, tested the system and got it all ready to go. We’ve already registered more than a thousand businesses, local government employers and third-party administrators during our soft launch, and now it’s ready for all employers to register! Whether you’re a private employer, a small business employer or a third party administrator, you’ll find step-by-step guides on our My FAMLI+ Employer page that make it easy to get started. The registration process only takes about 20 minutes to complete.
If you don’t get your business up and running right away, don’t worry! While every employer will need to register, employers don’t have to complete registration until the first premium payments and wage reports are due on April 30, 2023. The site launch is just the beginning. We’ll be hosting two live webinars in December to help you through the process and answer your questions. Register for the webinars below. Spots are limited, so if we reach max capacity before you log on, we’ll be streaming each webinar on our YouTube channel. December 6, 2022 at 11 - 11:30 a.m. We’re always here for your feedback to help make this transition as smooth as possible. Contact us with your questions here: CDLE_FAMLI_info@state.co.us |
As a final note this is perhaps the most salient of program/rule/ law changes that were deferred till after the the most recent election. There are other important law and rule changes that also go into effect which we will be reporting on in the coming weeks.
