COLORADO - REMINDER OF NEW FUEL TAXES AND FEES THAT GO INTO EFFECT APRIL 1ST

So the transportation bill that passed a couple years ago, after a one year of deferment will have the new fees on fuels go into effect.

These fees are collected on the same gallons, remitted at the same time, through the exact same process as the motor fuel excise tax on our licensed fuel distributor members. These are fees instead of taxes because the legislature said so, which is why there wasn’t a TABOR required vote.

Road Usage Fee (RUF) and Bridge and Tunnel Impact Fee (BTI)

Effective July 1, 2022, the Road Usage Fee is due from each distributor of gasoline or special fuel that pays the excise tax. The Bridge and Tunnel Impact Fee is due from each distributor of special fuel that pays the excise tax. The rates for each gallon of gasoline or special fuel are as follows.
