This Issues in Focus article presents a series of cases that apply carbon fees on energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. We examine how economy-wide carbon fees influence total, sectoral, and fuel-specific energy-related CO2 emissions, as well as fuel prices. We also examine how the effect of carbon fees varies under different assumptions on macroeconomic growth.
