COLORADO - NEW FUEL FEES AND TAXES IN EFFECT AND OTHER PUSHED OFF TO 2023

The Governor/ Rep. Roberts delayed implementation of the staged increase on gasoline and special fuel till April of next year. (political) on the RUF (which is essentially the exact same as excise tax) except they called it a fee to avoid TABOR and the allowances don’t apply on the Fee portion.

Then effective -  April1 2023 the other fees go back into effect. (RUF)

Road Usage Fee (RUF) and Bridge and Tunnel Impact Fee (BTI)

Effective July 1, 2022, the Road Usage Fee is due from each distributor of gasoline or special fuel that pays the excise tax. The Bridge and Tunnel Impact Fee is due from each distributor of special fuel that pays the excise tax. The rates for each gallon of gasoline or special fuel are as follows.

After June 2032 the bridge and tunnel impact fee and the road usage fee rates will be adjusted annually based on inflation. The Department will update its website each year by April 15th with the new rate.
