COLORADO - YOU’RE INVITED: COMMUNITY AIR MONITORING PUBLIC MEETINGS HOSTED BY SUNCOR

Dear Community Member:

In response to feedback Suncor heard from the community last fall, we committed to spearhead the development of an enhanced air monitoring program in the Commerce City and North Denver (CC-ND) area to assess air quality and report near real-time data to the public.

Since this CC-ND Air Monitoring program was announced at the end of 2020, we have been actively meeting with regulators and other government stakeholders to help shape it. Based on these informative discussions, as well as the desire we heard from the community to stand up this program quickly, we selected Montrose Air Quality Services (Montrose), a third-party team of engineers, scientists, analysts and technicians, to develop and implement the community air monitoring network and provide near real-time air quality information to the public.

Montrose’s air quality division is one of the largest air quality measurement groups in the world and specializes in not only the measurement of air quality, but also the development and evaluation of emerging technologies for conducting these measurements. With an air quality office in Denver’s Sunnyside neighborhood, Montrose has been selected based upon their extensive experience conducting similar air monitoring programs including Denver’s “Love My Air.”

As a next step, we are inviting you to join us for a public meeting to further develop this important program for our region.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 18 or Wednesday, May 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. MT

We will be hosting the meeting twice to provide community members with multiple opportunities to attend.

WHERE: Due to COVID-19, the meeting will be held virtually via Zoom to ensure the safety of all attendees. The meetings will include real-time Spanish interpretation.

WHO: Suncor leaders and environmental experts from Montrose will be at the meeting to answer your questions and listen to your input.

REGISTER: Please visit  www.suncor.com/CCND-air to register to attend and learn more about community air monitoring. Participants can submit questions and feedback upon registration and during the meeting.

After hearing the community’s feedback, we’ll work with Montrose to finalize program components for the initial evaluation phase of the air monitoring program.

We look forward to seeing you virtually in May!

Sincerely,

Suncor Energy (U.S.A) Inc.
